A Stroll through the Cologne Christmas Market [Through my Lens Nr. 19]

It won't come as a surprise that I love Christmas Markets. We don't have them here in Mostar, so I have to travel to see them. When December rolls around I get melancholic about the lights of the market as well as the many goodies you can purchase there. This post includes images from the Cologne Christmas Market, one of the more famous ones in Europe. I hope you will enjoy these seasonal images and don't forget to link up with us!

A Stroll through the Cologne Christmas Market

This next image shows the market from above. The shot was taken from the "Kölner Dom", the big Cathedral and main landmark of Cologne. From up here you can really see the intricacy of the whole set up. Of course once the dark rolls in you get the best effect.

We enjoyed strolling the market, drinking mulled wine and eating various sweets. It's quite busy here, but you never feel crowded. Cologne has 9 Christmas Markets so you will always come across them in the city. This main one features a huge Christmas Tree and a stage where live music is performed every night.

There is nothing like Christmas in Germany, I have to say. I have been to a lot of Christmas Markets, but this one always steals the show. I think I will write a list of my favorite Christmas Markets soon, just as I finish up my USA Travel Series (which ends on Wednesday).

Now I want to see what you have been up to. Link down below and share with the rest of us!

  30. oh as usual i just love all of these...your night shots are so crisp! it's hard to pick a favorite but i especially love the one with that old church(?) in the background...we have a "Dickens of a Christmas" here in roanoke...it runs for 3 fridays and last friday was the first...i missed it as the boys had basketball practice and that's usually the case for us. i did catch it once last christmas for the first time. i'm hoping to be able to go to this friday's as it is also the parade but i'll have to wait and see if practice is scheduled..blah...anyways, that's probably the closest we have to a christmas market!
